Ammonite 3D

… Today, I manipulate and I caress Ammonite 3D. Its new name is a secret between the two of us. To the rest of the world, it is still, quite simply, Ammonite. I am the only one who knows the truth. I photographed it before destruction and after 3D printing. The two pictures are identical and superimpose perfectly on my screen. My Ammonite and Ammonite 3D are one, one and the same fossil, involving an element of fiction so tenuous that nobody will ever see any of it…

Ammonite, fossil, between 420 and 65 million years old
Dimensions: 13 x 11 x 3 cm, weight: 431 g
Detrital rock, sediments
Destruction and then identical reconstruction by 3D printing
September 2017
